The Kitchen That Disappears Into Itself: Urban Homes' Tenafly Masterwork
Inside a private Tenafly, NJ residence, Urban Homes has designed a kitchen where bookmatched stone, fluted ebony millwork, and an invisible pantry door redefine what high-end residential kitchens can be. In luxury residential design, the kitchen is where architecture and daily life collide most dramatically. Urban Homes, the New Jersey–based design-build firm known for its uncompromising attention to materiality, has delivered a kitchen in a private Tenafly home that stands as one of its most sophisticated works to date. This space is defined not only by what you see, but by what you don’t.
A palette built on contrast and restraint
Urban Homes’ Tenafly kitchen is defined by what you see and what you don’t. Floor-to-ceiling dark-stained oak cabinetry wraps the room as a single graphic plane: handleless, appliance-integrated, and interrupted only by a dramatic stone niche. Warm blond oak flooring is the only counterpoint to the mineral palette above.
