Designed by Urban Homes, this space was thoughtfully created to serve as the heart of the home—bringing together timeless materials and clean architectural lines in a way that feels both refined and welcoming.

The custom kitchen cabinets, designed by Urban Homes and developed by Aster Cucine, seamlessly integrate warmth and sophistication while maintaining a sense of calmness and simplicity. Frame-panel fronts and modern hardware reflect contemporary styling, while the woodgrain finishes and elevated detailing nod to traditional craftsmanship—hallmarks of transitional design.
The design concept
The design concept was all about finding balance-a space that contrasts the old-world warmth with the honesty of clean, modern lines. Urban Homes envisioned a kitchen that was high-end but still approachable; where custom frame-panel cabinetry in natural tones of wood and a refined detailing lend a timeless quality while its minimalist hardware and sleek lines introduce a contemporary sophistication. Every element was selected to support a seamless flow-both visually and functionally-for this kitchen to invite one toward gathering, connection, and everyday comfort.
The design.
A large island with ample seating anchors the kitchen, serving as a natural gathering place for residents and guests to socialize and interact. Its stone waterfall countertop introduces an element of quiet drama and visual elegance, enriching the overall aesthetic without overwhelming it. The layout is designed for both function and flow, ensuring smooth transitions between cooking, dining, and living areas. With its open plan and warm, organic materials, the kitchen encourages comfortable movement and effortless interaction. Ultimately, this Tenafly kitchen offers timeless appeal and everyday functionality—a thoughtfully designed transitional space by Urban Homes, brought to life with bespoke Aster Cucine cabinetry to enhance both form and function for years to come.
An elegant addition to this kitchen is the integrated bar area, thoughtfully tucked into a side alcove. Framed by soft archways and visually connected through consistent cabinetry and stonework, the bar features glass-front upper cabinets in a dark, wine-toned finish that contrasts beautifully with the natural oak lower cabinets. A striking marble backsplash with bold veining adds a luxurious focal point, while the wine fridge and open countertop make it ideal for entertaining. The combination of textures and rich tones creates a cozy, sophisticated corner perfect for pouring a glass and unwinding or hosting guests in style.
